CertMarketLanSECO-project Organic Certification and Market Development in UkraineIn late 2005, the SECO financed project “Organic Certification and Market Development in Ukraine” (2006 – 2010) started its activities in building up a local certification agency and supporting the development of the organic market in Ukraine with market services and support to so called “Organic Market Initiatives”. Difficulties to group a strong base of shareholders and fluctuations in personnel hampered a rapid start of this certification agency. In January 2007 the certification agency “Organic Standard” could be registered and is since then building up its capacities and offering inspection services to Ukrainian organic farmers according to Swiss and EU regulations. BioLan is being supported by the SECO-project to offer market services such as PR materials, a business directory etc. to its members. A close cooperation with the implementing agency of this SECO funded-project, the Swiss Research Institute for Organic Agriculture (FiBL) has been developed, in order to realize synergies and a clear division of tasks. |
